Calling all Crafters!

Do you sew? We could use your help to sew washable face masks to be distributed to local hospitals, nursing homes, EMTs, etc. Help protect our health care workers, help protect the patients, young and old. These are not N95 masks, but will still provide much-needed protection against infection. We have patterns and supplies.
If you don’t sew, but would still like to help – we could use drivers to deliver supplies to makers and completed masks to their destination (porch to driveway or parking lot, all outdoors)
If you can help in any way,  please email Laura Lodge at or call her at 970/977-0100.

Masks are available at the church for people who need them as long as supply last. They are free, donations for supplies would be great.

The Face Mask are a Great Success and Community Outreach.
The homemade masks available at CUMC for our congregation and community are being made and donated by Barb Hitchcock and a group of congregation and community members who are assisting our medical community, first responders, and front line essential workers. Loosely called The CLE Mask Makers (CLE for Cleveland), the group includes congregation members Laura Pekrul, Randy Hill, Lynne Keane, Jean Bailey, Marilyn Zoller, Lora Zoller, Diane Adloff, Lisa Sheldon, and Cameron Sheldon. Larry Adloff is assisting with order deliveries and Laura Lodge is coordinating requests with mask makers and handling supply procurement.

Over the past month the CLE Mask Makers have assisted organizations all over the Cleveland area, including University Hospitals Dialysis Center Downtown, Pediatric Partners, Seasons of Care Health Services, Grafton State Prison, Columbia Fire Department, North Park Care Center, FrontLine Service, The LCADA Way Women’s Residential Program: The Key, Hospice of the Western Reserve, Equality Ohio, The Seidman Cancer Center/University Hospital at St. John’s, The Cleveland Clinic/Lutheran ICU Team, and will be delivering to Neighborhood Family Practice Community Health Center this week.

JoAnn Fabrics has donated fabric and thread to our mask making organization and ribbon + other supplies are being purchased with donations. We appreciate all of our mask makers’ time & efforts and are happy to extend assistance to organizations who might be in need. If you know of such an organization or know a community member who would like to make masks as part of the group, please contact Laura Lodge at 970/977-0100 or
